About Jason Mershon

Besides being a recognized professional poker player, Jason Mershon (aka J.J. Breeze) is also an award-winning songwriter, producer and entertainer who has spent most of his life in the entertainment biz.

While he has been playing poker since the 1980’s in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, it wasn't until the early 2000's when he decided to actually begin "playing poker for a living".

As mainly a “cash game” specialist, Jason only occasionally entered poker tournaments, but has been able to win dozens of minor tournaments, as well as “cash" in some major tournaments such as the "Legends of Poker",and the "California State Poker Championships".

In the summer of 2009, while playing poker at a local casino, the songwriter within came alive.  His chips were down and he began to write lyrics on a cocktail napkin, as he tried to regain his cash position and stay in the game.

Jason began writing about a “day in the life” of a professional poker player, and what it was really like to spend hours at a time in a casino in a light-hearted and humorous way, including the winning, losing, monotony, and often sarcastic attitudes of players at the table.  He decided to record the song and call it “Playin’ Poker For A Livin'”.

Feeling that his years as a professional poker player has given him the "skills" and "expertise" to match just about anyone, he's decided to enter the 2010 World Series Of Poker Main Event and has decided to share his experience (and winnings!) with poker players, music lovers, and hopefully a lot of his "new friends" who decide to buy his song and join him in his promotion this year.

Jason can be regularly been seen playing poker for a living and The Commerce and Bicycle Casinos in Los Angeles; Lake Elsinore Casino and Pechanga Resort and Casino in the Inland Empire California; and at many other card rooms in Las Vegas and San Diego.

NOTE: Other music written and produced by Jason Mershon is also available, including his award winning rock musical, "Rock and Roll Heaven" (aka "Heaven Rocks"), and another poker song written in 1988 called, "Texas Hold'em".
